Alexa’s market penetration in India may soar once the new feature gets added
Technology is evolving with every passing day, a few months ago, Alexa was introduced to a school in Waruda as a teacher. The virtual assistant has added ease to a lot of people’s lives and now Amazon is working on it in order to upgrade it.
Alexa may soon be able to assist people in regional languages which is definitely going to make it easier to communicate with the device for several people in India. Numerous of them use smart speakers which makes the competition tough for the ones who are a part of it. And now that Amazon is trying to make Alexa friendly for the Indian market, it may attract a lot of other users.
The Vice President and Head Scientist for Alexa, Rohit Prasad spoke about why Alexa needs to be comfortable with the Indian users as he told IANS: "For us, it is a contextual, cultural as well as content-related challenge as the question is not that Alexa just needs to understand Hindi. This part we can do relatively easily but Alexa needs to be Indian when it speaks in Hindi as there are several dialects and accents out there which Alexa has to understand and react accordingly.”
Rohit also added that a joke which is cracked in the US may not be appropriate if spoken in Indian languages and such issues are more culture dependent. They don’t look forward to offering anything half-baked to their customers but, believe in giving a wholesome experience.
Alexa’s market penetration in India may soar once the new feature gets added. It is certainly great news for Indian users.
