India’s first maritime cluster will be developed in Gandhinagar.
Under Union minister, Sagar Male Scheme Gandhinagar will get India’s first maritime cluster. This was announced by Mansukh Mandaviya, Union minister of state for road, transport, highways and shipping. This new cluster is expected to increase port-led industrial growth in India.
Talking about the same Mandaviya informed that he had reviewed various port-related activities in the state. He said, “A shipping and the ancillary maritime cluster will be developed at Bhavnagar and a broad gauge railway line will be laid at Bedi port and the Bhavnagar-Alang- Shoshiya road will be developed as a national highway.”
Also, there is a good news for tourists as there will be an underwater gallery and restaurant that will be planned under the Sagar Male project. There will be a shipyard skill development centre. Apart from this, the department also plans to give a basket of other things related to maritime. A maritime museum, theme park and national maritime heritage complex projects are in the pipeline. All this would be developed near Lothal.
The union minister also informed about the progress on the Ghogha-Dahej Ro-Ro ferry service project while a new fishing harbor will be developed.
