Soon you could cruise through the air for 12 kilometers with breath taking sea view on India's longest ropeway
India's longest ropeway is coming up in Visakhapatnam, Kailasagiri as a major project by the Andhra Pradesh Government. The aim is to attract more tourists in order to raise the footfalls.
Kailasagiri is one of the prominent hill top parks with panoramic sea view on the East Coast. The scenic beauty not only attracts a huge crowd but also filmmakers all over India.
Andhra Pradesh’s Tourism Department (APTDC) in collaboration with the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (Vuda) and Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation(GVMC), are planning to build a rope way from Kailasagiri to Dolphin's Nose which may pass over the entire RK Beach Road stretch, one of the longest rope ways in India which will cover almost 12 km. And the other rope way from Kailasagiri to Simhachalam hills will be somewhere around 2 km.
As per the reports, earlier this year, the longest ropeway was being set up in Mumbai between the Elephanta Island and the city, situated in the Arabian Sea, over a stretch of 8 km.
The project will be funded by the World Bank as a part of re development of Kailasagiri Tourism.
An Ahmedabad-based consulting agency has been asked to study the activity of the two stretches and prepare a detailed project report (DPR). The agency to do this work in next three months and would be charging Rs 4 crore for the same.
APTDC divisional manager TV Sudarshana Rao told TOI,"Tourists can have a panoramic view of the sea on one side and lush green hills on the other while travelling in the glass-domed cable cars. We have earned `8.60 crores by serving 2.55 lakh tourists from April to July this year."
