Here is an alternative for all of us to skip the long queues at toll plaza!
An electronic toll collecting facility will be introduced from September 1 on all national highways across the nation.
Vehicles need not have to atop at toll plazas to make payments. A device called FASTags has been introduced. This is device is installed on windshield of vehicles. Toll payments can be made directly through the prepaid accounts linked to it thereby skipping the long queues at toll plazas. For the same, there will be dedicated FASTag lanes and will be operational from September 1 on al 371 national highways.
You can purchase FASTags from Friday that is 18th August, 2017 online from the websites of banks, Indian Highways Management Company Limited and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The device will be delivered at the residential address of the customer. It can also be bought offline from the sales points of Common Services Centres (CSC) which will be set up near the toll plazas. FASTags have the vailidity of five years. You can top up online by debit or credit cards or via internet banking. Also two mobile applications have been developed by NHAI namely MyFASTag and FASTag Partner for the purchase and recharge of the FASTags.
FASTags have been a good riddance from the exhausting queues at the toll plazas.
