Government to launch ‘I stand by my country’ campaign

The government has planned a twin celebration to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Quit India movement and the 70th Independence Day by stirring up a citizen movement around the theme ‘I stand by my country’.

According to the ministry of information and broadcasting, a multimedia campaign has been designed to inspire the young generation and instill in them a sense of pride and responsibility towards the country.

Economic Times reviewed a copy of the brief prepared by the ministry of information and broadcasting which stated, “It is a great opportunity to not only celebrate, but also reiterate our patriotic feelings, reinvigorate our resolve to make India an economic superpower, and revitalise our minds to make India the world’s intellectual capital.”

The government believes that half of the country’s population is below the age of 25, and such a campaign will help them imbibe patriotic values and relate to major events that took place during the time of the country’s freedom struggle.

Affirming that there is a new and upbeat dynamism and an innate desire in the people to see the nation rise to new heights of success, the government is confident that it will meet the aspirations of its people. It believes that in the next five years, a new India will be built which will be free of corruption and black money.

The campaign will also claim that India has proved its worth in every field ranging from science and technology, sports, spirituality and art to space exploration, economy and defence. It will also assert that India is on the threshold of becoming a global power.

The government has also planned a social media campaign which encourages people to click their selfies with the tricolour and post them on social media websites, as well as holding week-long celebrations on the Rajpath lawns from August 12-18.
