Eco-friendly roads in Vishakapatnam are not only cost-effective but also durable
The Greater Vishakapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has adopted the smart and eco- friendly method of laying roads with plastic waste, thereby putting the non-biodegradable plastic waste to good use. So far, it has completed 16 such road stretches. These roads are not just cost-effective but last longer than the usual asphalt roads.
Besides utilising plastic waste effectively, such roads can withstand heavy rains and do not easily get washed away, thereby preventing damages to roads. Depending on the availability of plastic, the GVMC has plans to lay more roads with plastic waste across all the GVMC zones.
