Taking the decision ahead, it has requested citizens to donate saris which will be recycled into cloth bags.

Rajasthan is known to be one of the best tourist places in the country and it is equally important to preserve this state with ever increasing pollution. Taking the same step ahead now the Jaisalmer district collector will do its needful to reduce the plastic bags in the city. As a solution now the Collectorate has urged the citizens to donate old saris, which could be recycled into, carry bags.

One of its kind the best solution started for this month from 5th June observed as World Environment Day makes sure that the shoppers and the shopkeepers do not use plastic bags in the city. The collector of the district informed that this step will resolve two problems at the time, one being rampant use of plastic bags and other is the prevention of stray cattle eating hazardous waste. The city is already facing the problem of plastic which takes a toll on cow’s health.

The officers will now promote the use of cloth bags made from old saris and will ban plastic bags. Authorities have asked two old saris per house which will be then made into bags. The district administration has made provisions with various associations who will help to make the cotton bags.
