CM on three-day tour to South Korea and Singapore
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the South Korean government. He sought assistance for several infrastructure projects planned in the state. The meeting was held in Seoul.
Fadnavis is on a three-day tour to South Korea and Singapore. He is accompanied by senior IAS officers and minister of PWD Eknath Shinde. The delegation led by Fadnavis made a presentation and explained the modalities of the projects.
The CM said that the MoU will result in increased cooperation for infrastructure projects like development of smart cities, roads, airports, metro etc. In the presence of Korean minister Kim Hyunmee, the MoU was signed with the ministry of land infrastructure and transport.
Fadnavis also talked about his brainchild project - the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Corridor project which aims to bring down the travel time to 6 hours from the current 18 hours and also envisages industrial development in Nagpur. The state has claimed that the project will boost agro-industrial growth and generate new avenues of employment.
The CM sought special assistance for the corridor project. It has got a positive response from South Korea, which has agreed to enter into business partnership with the state to push mega-infrastructure projects.
