BMC plans to set up animal incinerators in the city.
Mumbai always works towards a greater cause and this one is surely worth applauds. BMC has planned to set up three animal incinerators to dispose of the remains of pet animals, free of cost.
The BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta took an initiative after seeing the rising number of pets in the city.
The incinerators will run on compressed natural gas and cost around 2 crore each. Each will be set up in different zones like Mahalaxmi(South Mumbai), Deonar(Eastern Suburb) and Malad( Western Suburb) , said the BMC official.
At present Mumbai has only one animal crematorium, and the setting up of the new incinerators will reduce the trouble of many pets. The facilities are said to be operational by next year and will be free of cost.
