The announcement of Prime Minister’s visit comes a day after the end of the 73-day standoff between India and China in Doklam.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the BRICS summit at Xiamen in China.
The Summit is scheduled to be held from September 3 to 5. The announcement of Prime Minister’s visit comes a day after the end of the 73 day standoff between India and China in Doklam. Both the countries have withdrawn their troops from the area. An official announcement from MEA was, “At the invitation of the President of People's Republic of China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Xiamen in China's Fujian province during September 3-5, 2017 to attend the 9th BRICS Summit.”
The President of Myanmar U Htin Kyaw has invited Indian Prime Minister to visit Myanmar. So Mr. Narendra Modi will travel to Myanmar from China for a state visit from September 5 to 7 marking India’s first bilateral visit to Myanmar. Mr. Narendra Modi will discuss with the State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on matters of mutual interest and will also call the President U Htin Kyaw. Further he will visit Yangon and Bagan.
Mr. Narendra Modi had visited Myanmar’s capital Nay Pyi Taw during ASEAN summit in November 2014.
