India’s Pride... Garma Garam Chai!
When I wake up in the morning, the first thing that I look out for is my cuppa of hot tea! If you have grown up in India, I am sure you share my sentiments. Without that daily early morning fill of Indian tea, laced with spices, milk and sweeteners, our day just doesn’t start. Just one cup of this magical beverage in the morning and we Indians are energized to face the many complexities and challenges life throws at us!
Just go to any market, railway station or public areas, stalls selling tea are thronged by people, irrespective of the time of the day. Many business deals are made and broken over “cutting chai” - as the hot cup is famously called in Maharashtra!
Chai time in the offices is when colleagues interact and socialize with one another. Chai time is bonding time - an excellent way to build team spirit in the office! So say goodbye to team building management practices and say hi to the good old Chai!
Indian housewives or “Auntyjis” are the unofficial police women of our neighborhoods. They keep track of everyone’s movements, lifestyles and pass the information on to yours and my benefit! And when they are on an espionage and information exchange business, what do they have in their hands? You guessed it - Garma Garam Chai!
Chai can be had in restaurants, but in my opinion, the most satisfying ones are those made at home and drunk in the warm company of one’s near and dear ones. Chai can be had plane or spiced with herbs like ginger, pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves. Take your pick, have it anytime of the day, drink with love or to release your stress - the pleasurable cup of Indian Chai never fails to satisfy anyone!
We all crave for Chai. We all love to have Chai. It unites us, it binds us! Chai is India’s pride!
