Left-handed children are wary of using several things which seems worrisome to some parents. They must be told that being a lefty should not be a matter of concern as there is a solution to everything. Maitri’s initiative has already changed the thoughts of many people and we hope it brings in an enormous change someday.

The struggles of a left-handed person are exceptionally hard and keeping that in mind, 24-year-old Maitri Wadher from Bangalore came up with The Left Out Store which sells products designed only for the lefties. Being a lefty herself, Maitri faced innumerable difficulties in her childhood, right from smudging the ink while writing with a pen to failing to use the scissors, everything seemed to be a problem for her. Initially, Maitri’s parents thought their daughter was throwing tantrums so that she could skip her homework but, as she grew up, they realized what the problem was. And since then they have been very supportive towards her.

Maitri has done her MBA in Marketing & Finance and the idea of The Left Out Store struck her head when she was in her first year. And in 2018, her plan came into inception. For now, she sells the products through her website as well as Instagram and Facebook but, she wishes to open an offline store soon.

On talking about manufacturing the products, Maitri told My Indian Dream: “My family owns a corporate stationery business so, it's very easy to get in touch with the vendors and explain them about the designs of the products. However, I get some of them from abroad as well.”  Be it spiral notebooks, yoro pencils, smudge-free rollerball pens, calligraphy set, can openers, playing cards or kitchen tools, The Left Out Store has everything for the lefties.

Since India is a superstitious country, using your left hand is not a good sign. And to break this norm, Maitri wants to go to schools and talk about the problems faced when one is forced to use the right hand. She also wishes to talk about the day to day difficulties and the solutions related to it.
