Jadav Payeng - The man who gave an abode to hundreds of animals
Jadav Payeng, a 16-year-old Assame boy in April 1979 started off his journey to plant life on the tough terrain of an eroded island covered with silt and salt. This journey was long and tough because the land had nothing but a barren hard soil where nothing could grow.
Jadav lay his efforts alone and did everything in his hands to build a natural habitat for the wildlife and give this island a rebirth.
At the age of 41, Jadav has successfully built a 1,360 acres dense forest and is known as the Forest Man of India. Payeng's forest is now a home to five Royal Bengal Tigers, wild boar, several species of birds and over a hundred vultures and deers.
Even when the forest looks lush and green and is a treat to our eyes, Payeng's efforts haven't reduced, he still visits the forest daily and plans on stretching the boundaries over the time.
Payeng he passes on his love for nature to his children and family.
